A Place to Prosper Expanding Black Homeownership and Housing Equity

Session One of the Policy for the People Economic Advancement Virtual Summit sparked powerful dialogue on how equitable tax and economic policies can uplift Black communities, but the conversation doesn’t stop there!

As we move into Session Two, “A Place to Prosper: Expanding Black Homeownership and Housing Equity,” we’ll take a closer look at one of the most enduring pathways to building wealth in America: owning a home.

For too long, Black households have faced systemic barriers to homeownership—from discriminatory lending and redlining to rising housing costs and zoning inequities. These challenges have widened the racial wealth gap and limited access to economic mobility.

Through insightful discussion, you’ll learn how bold, equity-driven solutions can:

  • Strengthen fair housing protections

  • Increase access to affordable rental and homeownership opportunities

  • Ensure federal investments reach historically underserved communities

Together, we can help Black families build intergenerational wealth, strengthen neighborhoods, and sustain thriving communities for generations to come.
