Baumer Lecture Series: Megan Sandel, MD, MPH

A safe, decent and affordable home is like a vaccine – it keeps people healthy. Learn how housing affects health at a free, public lecture on the campus of The Ohio State University. Whatever your interest – health care, urban planning, social work or social justice – this program will offer provocative insights.

Guest lecturer Megan Sandel, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Boston University Schools of Medicine and Public Health, the Medical Director of National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership, and a co-principal investigator with Children's Health Watch. In 1998, she published with other doctors at Boston Medical Center, a national report on how housing affected child health, the first of its kind.

Dr. Sandel has worked with the Boston Public Health Commission and Massachusetts Department of Public Health to improve the health of vulnerable children, particularly those with asthma. She has served on numerous committees and advisory boards, including the National Center for Healthy Housing, both the National American Academy of Pediatrics' and Massachusetts Chapter's Committee on Environmental Health, and the CDC Advisory Committee for Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention.
